Here’s an article in Arts Hub which … is slightly fictional in its factual … but reminded me of the video above that I’d forgotten about. It comes from a Sydney performance that I did in 2011 of the ongoing Acousmatic Ecology series … which is a style of playing that I developed over some years.
I have taken down the Sleuth exhibition today – it has hung for a month and the Closing night concert – Sound Klub 7 was a bit of a smash hit – grateful to all who helped and to Reuben Ingall, Paul Heslin, Matt Warren and Nick McCorriston for performing!
This is The Academic from the Sleuth series.
He’s kind of a cipher for me … reading books trying to comprehend Australian things in an overly poetic and slightly unintelligible manner.
SO – me exhibition SLEUTH down at Inflight Art Gallery (100 Goulburn St, West Hobart, Tasmania) is winding up this week. To celebrate you can come to this concert that I done the poster for – At Inflight – main space from 8pm!!
If you can’t make it to the gig – you can still catch the exhibition from Wednesday to Friday 1pm to 5pm at the gallery!
Time of concert changed to 8pm so you can scurry up from the CAST end of year member’s show up to Inflight ARI.

Drive West Today has been expanding over 2011 and 2012 to encompass more than just the cinematic experience of listening to sound. Joshua Santospirito’s guitar is more and more placed into textural compositions that contrast silence to clicks and bursts of sonar.
The recordings in the Acousmatic Ecology series are a document of one moment in a long slow exploration of stops and starts and counterintuition. All aimed at creating stillness within a maelstrom of anxiety and the elevation of the soul in the midst of confusion, attempting to take the listener into the performing experience.
Part 1 of the two-part series are selected pieces from a recording session in May in Hobart at the Scrapbook Studios. Part 2 will be out in late 2012 and will feature selected recordings that focus more on improvisational concepts within repetition.
