Sleuth: The Pulse

April 16th, 3-6pm
Visual Bulk
153a Argyle St, Hobart
THE PULSE is a live musical investigation into percussive sound and it’s hypnotic and ritualistic evocation of the new religion. We need to listen more closely to the underground spiritual pulsations if we are to survive on this terrifying/beautiful continent.
This art-event involves multiple projected animations (in all senses of the word) and a 3 hour live drum-kit meditation with anyone welcome to join in with instruments or wailing. No prior musical experience required … none at all.
Sleuth is a rambling series of events, comics, publications, exhibitions and animations that focuses on the elusive modern Australian spirituality, (whatever the hell that means!?). It began in 2012 and it is still happening today, it may even keep going on and on.
Rock for Evie
10 AprI played last night at the Republic Bar in Hobart for the Rock For Evie gig. Peter Macpherson filmed the night – hence the video above!
here’s the write-up that organiser Amy Kerr did.
Elvie is a beautiful 3 year old girl from the north west coast. She has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, known as Wilms tumour. Elvie is currently receiving chemotherapy but will also have to have the 10 X 6cm tumour removed along with her right kidney. The costs of the family, which also includes another young daughter to fly back and forth between Melbourne and Tasmania, including accommodation, food and other travel expenses are expansive. Elvie will also require ongoing tests etc for the unforeseeable future. Any money raised will greatly benefit this wonderful family. Come along for a night of great Hobart music to support a great cause!

From Feb 22-29 I shall be the guest Tumblr curator on Our Comics Ourselves! Which is a little adjunct to the NYC exhibition of the same name that is currently on! Jump to the website to have a look – http://ourcomicsourselves.tumblr.com
I’ll be focusing on Aussie comic makers that make stories that I like to see, stories that actually speak about the world that I would like to see, rather than the stories that the mainstream shoves down our throats.
First up is Ele Jenkins! but I shall also speak about Sam Wallman, Mandy Ord and MORE – one each day!

Recent Media
5 FebRecent gig at MOFO with Craig San Roque in performing The Long Weekend in Alice Springs went down a TREAT! Got loads of rad feedback, and several people asking if we’d come to other festivals … funny. I doubt we’d be able to line us both up together again – Hobart and Alice are in such different head-spaces.
Here’s two articles that I know of that detailed some things about the performance
