So I have returned to Alice Springs – I am currently writing this from a four-poster bed with a mozzie net in the backyard of Craig San Roque on East Side. I haven’t been in Alice since the launch of The Long Weekend in Alice Springs – back in May 2013. It really is bloody lovely to be back, I have a strangely home-like connection with this town.

At the festival I’ll be doing several things, the biggest is the presentation of Swallows and The Long Weekend at the “Drawing Story” event at 3pm on Saturday, but you can check out all the other things at the PROGRAM PAGE.

Graphic storytellers UNITE!

Condemned to draw pictures, Christopher Downes, Sarah Firth and Joshua Santospirito discuss their fate. Perhaps you require an example, so come and join these fine visual storytellers for a very special hour. In this event we will be taken on an audio-visual rodeo-ride with terrific tales told in multiple mediums.

Come to the Hobart Bookshop on Thursday the 3rd of September to help Josh launch his new Graphic novella Swallows Part One. cartoonist Christopher Downes will make launchy speechies and Josh will do an audiovisual comic reading.

I’ve had a lovely German fellow named Jan Bauer staying with me in Hobart, and this Friday he and I will be on stage on Friday the 28th at the Melbourne Writers Festival with Bernard Caleo – we shall be talking about his graphic novel and mine, which are both set in Central Australia.

Jan will be launching his beautiful BEAUTIFUL book The Salty River on the 27th of August at Readings Bookstore in Carlton (the night before). If you live in Melbourne – OMG go.
